Veterans Day is coming up quick, and there are several ways that you can show your support. Take a look below to learn when you can attend the 2016 Veterans Day Parade in Onslow County, located in our very own Jacksonville NC.
The annual Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 5, 2016 starting at 10 a.m. The Veterans Day parade will start at Coastal Carolina and continue along Western Blvd until it ends at the Brynn Marr Shopping Center. Traffic along the parade route on Western Blvd will be closed from 9 a.m. until the conclusion of the Parade, which will finish around 12 p.m. Jacksonville Police want to also remind people that Onslow Memorial Hospital can be accessed via Bell Fork Road to West Huff Drive. Line-up for the parade will start at 8 a.m.
The Onslow County Veterans Day Parade in Jacksonville NC is a big event that regularly features more than 5,000 total participants, including current members of the military, future members of the military, and retirees. Local high school marching bands, floats, and more will also be on display. We encourage everyone to attend this great event!
Is there a Veterans Day Service in Jacksonville NC?
Jacksonville NC will also be home to an annual Veterans Day Celebration Ceremony in 2016, which will happen on November 11. The service will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be feature guest speaker retired Col. Gerald B. Hurst of the US Air Force. A reception will follow the service in Craigg Hall.
Swansboro Young Marines Spaghetti Dinner
Looking for more ways to get involved and give back? There will be a Spaghetti Dinner hosted by the Swansboro Young Marines tonight (Nov. 4, 2016) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Hubert, NC. Dinner is free for all veterans. A $5 donation is the suggested entry for the public.
