Redesigns are a crucial part of the automotive industry. With each new generation, vehicles get better and better, with new technologies influencing what can be accomplished. After 40 years of being the best-selling truck in the United States, the Ford F-150 will undergo even more updates and redesigns to keep that title. Ford has recently released the engine specs for the new 2018 F-150.

One of the reasons the Ford F-150 is so popular is because of the wide range of engine options. The 2018 Ford F-150 updates some of the old favorites and adds a new diesel option. For 2018, the base engine is a 3.3L V6 with 290 horsepower. The 2017 model’s 3.7L V6 engine offered only 282 hp. If you’re looking for different options, there is also a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (325 hp), 5.0L V8 (395 hp) and 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (375 hp). These options are also available on the 2017 Ford F-150 with the same or similar performance. The most exciting new engine is the 3.0L Power Stroke turbodiesel V6. Ford has not yet released the performance specifications for this new engine.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will also feature a newly redesigned exterior, with a new grille, fascia and bumper. Inside, the SYNC 3 system now includes a Wi-Fi hot spot and smart phone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also new available safety features like pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, which will alert drivers if they are entering a situation that may cause an accident, and if the alert goes ignored, the system will begin to apply the brake.
