Can I still buy the Ford Ranger in Jacksonville NC?

The pickup truck is a thing of art. It has to be stylish, powerful, efficient and just big enough, but not TOO big. There seems to be a thin line every once in awhile and in the past, automobile manufacturers sometimes erred on the side of caution. A new concept of pickup trucks was introduced: the compact pickup.

While Ford’s namesake rests in powerful, efficient vehicles such as the F-150 and the Explorer, there was a time when they did have a compact truck out and it was actually pretty successful! The Ford Ranger was in production in the U.S. from the early 1980s through 2011, and the last Ranger ever was made December 2011.

Even though you can’t go to a Ford dealership right now and get a brand-new Ranger, those drivers wondering “,” are in luck because there are preowned Ford Rangers around the country.

The Ford Ranger, like we said, was a compact truck in production through 2011, which is actually quite recent. The Ranger was the best-selling compact pickup between 1987 to 2004.

The goal of the Ranger was to provide drivers with a pickup that had the power and capabilities of the F-series pickups, but that was smaller and more efficient.

The first model year Ford Ranger came standard with a 2L 72 horsepower engine but also had an available 2.3L 82 horsepower engine. The Ranger received a major makeover in 1998 that gave a it a longer wheelbase and cab.
By the end of its reign, the Ford Ranger was available with a 2 or 3L engine that makes 148 and 163 horsepower, respectively.
