The Shelby GT350 and GT350R go above and beyond what a regular sports car does. These two performance beasts are far and away the ultimate Mustang experience currently available. Even with their power, the two are street legal, but what if there wasn’t a street-legal Shelby made by Ford? Well, just yesterday Ford actually revealed an all-new addition to its lineup of Ford performance vehicles — the non-street legal Ford Shelby FP350S, which has been specially designed for racing on the track.
Track-Only Shelby FP350S
The Track-ready (and only) Shelby FP350S looks a lot like the regular Shelby models at first, but it’s hiding some pretty nice upgrades. The FP350S is powered by a 5.2L 4 valve/cylinder V8 Bore x Stroke 94mmx93mm engine, according to Ford Performance, and it redlines at 8250 RPM. some of the other highlights include a race-oriented exhaust, optional Shelby FP350S custom graphics, Ford performance splitter and carbon-fiber adjustable rear wing, Sparco FIA-compliant racing seat and a quick-release steering wheel.
There are quite a few other upgrades to the Shelby FP350S, but the main idea is that improvements have been made to make this thing ready for the track. This isn’t the first time that Ford has designed a Mustang for racing events, though. Ford also designed other turn-key race cars, including the FR500C, BOSS 302R, 302S, GT350R-C, and GT4.
What Race Series is the Shelby FP350S going to race in?
The all-new Ford Shelby FP350S has been designed for the track, specifically for a few racing events, which include the Trans AM, NASA, and SCCA club. Even though these were the specific events in mind when it was designed, that doesn’t mean the Shelby FP350S won’t be ready to prove itself at other road races or events.
