Famous Fords

The Ford Motor Company has been around for over 100 years and through this long history, they have really made a name for themselves. One area that often gets overlooked, is the amount of Ford vehicles that have been made famous thanks to their role in the movies. It’s not just everyday people that are driving Ford cards, it’s our favorite characters from our favorite films. You probably won’t believe just how many Fords you’ve seen on the silver screen. Without further ado here is Sanders Ford’s list of famous Fords.

1. Grease – 1948 Ford Deluxe

Admit it, after seeing this movie you wanted the car that Danny and the gang danced around while singing Greased Lightning. This sleek car was one of the greatest (fake) car makeovers ever seen. It was also the basis for a dance number, which can’t be said about many other cars.

2. Jurassic Park – 1993 Ford Explorer XLT

Have you ever wondered how your vehicle would fair against a velociraptor? Well check out Jurassic Park to see how a Ford Explorer managed. They had seven of these special Explorers made for the film and a replica even exists at Universal Studios in Japan.

3. Dumb and Dumber – 1984 Ford Econoline

It might be hard to notice under that doggy disguise, but that’s actually a Ford Econoline hiding in Dumb and Dumber. The infamous car that took Loyd and Harry on that road trip was in fact a Ford. It looks like the car will make a return in the new movie as well.

4. Starsky and Hutch – 1975 Ford Gran Torino

Probably the most notable Ford vehicle to make it on television was the red 1975 Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch. Everyone knows that car whether they ever saw the show or movie.

Those are the most notable Fords used in films. Even though Fords are still being used in the media, they will never quite be as infamous as these four. To see how far Ford has come, check out the new models Sanders Ford has in stock. They may not be the same as what you see here, but they are still part of the Ford legacy. Check back and maybe you will find the perfect car to remind you of your favorite film.
