The words towing and Ford instantly conjure images of its highly touted F-150 and F-Series Super Duty lineup of trucks, but they aren’t the only Ford vehicles that are capable of towing. This may surprise some people, but some of Ford’s cars are also ready to tow. Want your next family car to be ready to tow a trailer? Take a look at the new Ford cars that can tow a trailer!
Towing in a 2016 Ford Fusion
The 2016 Ford Fusion has a lot going for it — and that includes the ability to tow a trailer. The 1.5L I-4 EcoBoost, 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost and the 2.5L I-4 are all engines that can handle some light trailering. Both the 2.5L and 1.5L engines have a max trailer weight of 1,000 lbs when equipped, but the 2.0L I-4 can go all the way up to 2,000 lbs — which is pretty dang impressive for a car! It should be noted that there isn’t factory-installed equipment offered, and that you would need to go aftermarket for this. The Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi are also not rated to tow.
2016 Ford Taurus for Towing
Many fullsize sedans out there are known to offer the ability to tow a trailer, and the Ford Taurus is no exception. Afterall, these vehicles are meant to offer convenience, and having the ability to tow a light trailer can be a pretty big convenience. Need to pull some extra cargo to move a kid into college? A vehicle like the 2016 Ford Taurus, which can tow up to 1,000 lbs with the 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost engine or the 3.5L V6, has your back!
Can a 2016 Ford Mustang Tow?
Really? Tow a trailer in a Ford Mustang? Hey, not exactly what we would use the historic pony car for, but it is possible. The 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost, 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 engine are all rated as capable of towing a 1,000 lbs trailer, both in an automatic and manual transmission configuration.
If towing is a feature you want in a car, then the 2016 Ford Fusion with its max capacity of 2,000 lbs might be the right choice for you. You can come by Sanders Ford in Jacksonville NC to learn more about the Fusion, and all other Ford vehicles that we offer!
