The 1966 Shelby GT350-H was a big deal back in the day since it was part of a team up between Ford, Shelby American, and Hertz to create the “Rent-A-Racer” program that was incredibly unique at the time. The idea of being able to rent a race car like the Shelby was unheard of. But back then you could rent the 1966 Ford Shelby Mustang GT-350 for $17 a day, with an additional 17 cents per mile. Today you can rent the current Shelby from Hertz for $399 per day.

The 1966 Shelby Rent-A-Racer isn’t the only Mustang that has been on Jay Leno’s Garage recently, as we were also treated with an episode of the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 — a very rare model. Jay has a ton of cars in his garage, but this isn’t one of them. They actually are taking a look at one that was restored by Anghel Restorations. Under its hood is a monstrous 7.0L V8 engine that was detuned to 375 horsepower, but it can easily be adapted to get somewhere between 500 and 600 horsepower.
