One focus that Ford has had in recent years is making cars that appeal to smaller groups of people, rather than just a car that is meant to try and appeal to everyone. This can be seen with its recent attention given to performance models, like with the upcoming release of the Focus RS and Fusion Sport. But another area that Ford is making strides in is in wheelchair accessibility. Is there a wheelchair accessible SUV is a common question, and now we have a good answer!
Wheelchair Accessible Ford SUV
Those who are familiar with wheelchair accessible vehicles already are likely well aware of BraunAbility and what they do as for as mobility innovations. We’re happy to say that they’ve done it again, and soon a wheelchair friendly Ford Explorer will be available as the BraunAbility MXV — the world’s first wheelchair-accessible SUV.
The BraunAbility MXV will be available on the Explorer base, XLT, and Limited trim models, which allows customers to really pick how they want their vehicle to be. Not only will the Ford Explorer function to allow for wheelchair users to ride as a passenger, but also drive it. Ford BraunAbility MXV will feature the 3.5L V6 engine that allows for 24 MPG on the highway, and has an estimated towing capacity of 5,000 lbs.
About the 2016 Ford Explorer
The 2016 Ford Explorer, which the BraunAbility XLT is based on, is a powerful SUV, and we think they made the right choice when choosing to work with the Explorer and Ford. The Explorer is all about getting around in style, and venturing out where a less capable vehicle won’t allow you to go, and it lets you do it in comfort too! You can get Nirvana leather seats, a Ford SYNC infotainment system, and even hands-free parking features in the 2016 Explorer.
