For families that require the space of a minivan and the power of a pickup truck, we have some very good news for you. The Ford Expedition is being redesigned for the 2015 model year to offer more power and better fuel-economy. Sounds pretty good, right? While you’ll have to wait until near the end of 2014 for the 2015 Ford Expedition to arrive on the lot, we’re confident it will be well worth the wait. We’ll tell you what’s new in the 2015 Ford Expedition and you can decide how the next-generation full-size SUV will fit your needs.
The first, and perhaps most important, new aspect of the 2015 Ford Expedition is its new EcoBoost engine. While the previous generation came fitted with a 5.4-liter V-8, the next-generation model will trade that out for a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 that will elevate fuel-economy ratings and boost power. That same engine will be an option in the 2015 Ford F-150, which will arrive at dealerships around the same time.
While the 2015 Ford Expedition’s exterior looks to be refreshed with updates on the grille, front fascia and rear, the dimensions and proportions of the next-generation model appear to be similar to that of the previous generation. With modern touches like LED lamps and chrome accents giving the Expedition an upscale feel, styling will remain one of the full-size SUVs strong points.
Inside, Ford is refreshing the interior and upgrading the tech features with the latest version of the SYNC with MyFord Touch interface. A new instrument panel will be segmented into two 4.2-inch LCD screens offset by the speedometer. More active safety features also will be introduced in the the 2015 Ford Expedition, such as blind-spot alerts, cross-traffic alerts, and a rearview camera.
While we await the first shipment of the 2015 Ford Expedition in a few months, we’ll continue to update you on the latest information and ratings surrounding the full-size SUV. Until then, check out the 2014 Ford Expedition models already on the lot and browse our other spacious utility vehicles like the 2014 Ford Explorer and Ford Flex.
